So it's fully plug and play. You have to use the software supplied to use this function. This card reader works perfect every. The card reader also has an file transfer button. Windows can detect the card reader without you having to install any software or drivers. I have owned 2 other CF/multi card readers and they all broke because the pins in the CF slot bent. This is not a problem with this reader because this reader allows the body of the card to slide in a good inch allowing for proper alignment of the pins in to the card. I don't use the button; instead, I just use explorer to find the card and I get my images that way.
Personally I just want to "grab 'n go" soto speak and having to work my way down folders to getto the actual pictures is a bit annoying. I recently purchased a SanDisk CF Type I/II ImageMateUSB 2.0 Reader/Writer and while I think it very good I do have a problem with it burying everything under2 folders. Otherwise,I think this is an excellent tool.
Have gone through 3 others, the pins that fit in the card always bend and get out of shape, no matter how gently I insert the card. And it gets the job done. Glad to finally have found a CF card reader that lasts. This one appears to be built much better in that regard.
You need one buy one. Every time, everyplace. Bought this to replace a stolen Sandisk CF reader. What can I say, they just work. You can't go wrong.
The install CD didn't work AT ALL, but that's ok because it works without it.This card reader only has one slot though, unlike the other black colored SanDisk model that has a small memory card reader and a large memory card reader. This is card reader works perfectly. If I had the chance to buy it again, I would buy the double reader.I think it's the same price anyway.
